How many times a week do you practice? 


Flames squads practice on Sunday afternoons and Tuesday evenings for 1 1/2 hours-2 hrs depending upon the age. Each practice will start or end with a 15 min devotion and prayer time. Attendance for a competitive cheer team is vital and an attendance policy will be enforced.  Competition cheer is made up of teamwork, stunts, formations and changes that are being made to the routine throughout the season.  If one person is absent it affects the entire team negatively.  Due to the commitment level of the cheerleader and commitment and flexibility required of the parents, we HIGHLY recommend you consider your child’s current schedule and activities before committing to competition cheer. 


* Additional practices will be added on Friday nights before competition days.  In addition, rescheduling of days and location due to conflicts at FRC gym are expected during the season. 



What will my child be doing at practice?


Each squad will learn a 2 ½ min routine consisting of a cheer, jump sequence, stunts and tumbling. Our coaches will train and teach your child each step of the way by breaking the routine apart and working on each of these things separately.  In addition, each practice will be concluded by a 15 minute devotion time to allow them an opportunity to grow spiritually.



How many competitions do you compete in?


Each Flames squad will compete in approximately 5 competitions; 4 local competitions and The National Cheerleading Competition held at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, FL.  



How much does the program cost and what do these fees cover?


Total cost for the 2019 Flames season is $775

$300 – Registration Fee before June 14 (Early Bird Discount; $20 Off Registration)

$325 - Registration Fee after June 14


$250 – 2nd Fee: Due on July 15


$225 – 3rd Fee: Due August 5

How long is the season?


July – January


Our season officially begins in July with our mandatory events including skills assessment, parent meeting, stunt clinic and choreography week. Practices begin August 4th and run through the beginning of January. We will conclude the season at our annual cheer banquet in January 2020.



How old does my child have to be to participate?


We accept children ages 5 through rising 12th grade. Children must be 5 by August 1, 2019



Are there try-outs?


No try-outs are necessary.  We are an all inclusive program.  Cheerleaders will be separated by age and skill level. 


*The Coordinator reserves the right to place a child on a team that is best suited for them according to skills, emotional maturity and parent consent.  This will be determined by the coordinator through a skills assessment of tumbling, jumps, stunting and motions, if necessary.



Is tumbling necessary?


Tumbling is not necessary however beneficial as it does add to the team score.  The more girls that tumble, the higher the tumbling and execution score will be.  We encourage all our cheerleaders to tumble if at all possible.
